Description
The Sharon House has been closed for a long time. Prior to it being a restraurant it was The Bank of California, Virginia City Branch. In Mark Twain's: His Life in Virginia City, Nevada. It states ...Sharon was hired by William Ralston to manage the Virginia City Branch. Currently the building is used by the Ponderosa Saloon. This watercolor painting is of the Sharon House located in Virginia City, Nevada.
St. Mary in the Mountains Catholic Church can be seen in the background. This church was built during the late 1800s and literally pierces the sky with majestic spires. Parishioners enter through three arched doorways and rose-colored windows shed a heavenly light throughout the services. The solid-cast silver bell can be heard throughout the little town announcing the beginning of Mass. The splendid Gothic altar is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Whatever religion you may be, you will appreciate the beauty in this house of God. (This statement found on Yahoo).
The view can be seen looking from the west to the east.
