This watercolor painted is of my husbands father who passed away in 2004. While working on this painting, I said, "Edward if you don't want to look like an ole poop, you better help me". My husband says it is a perfect likeness. We love you Dad.
About Sharon Mick
My favorite medium is anything I choose to use that day. Lately that has been oil. It has a rich velvety texture and glides over the canvas. I also like to use transparent watercolors because they glow with luminescence and allows for the light I see in life to be captured on paper. I started drawing as a teenager. You may recall those art advertisements that were in the guise of a contest. Draw this dog and submit it to our panel of artists and see if you qualify. Of course, every submission was a winner if you could afford the huge price tag to enroll in their correspondence school. This painting is of my father. The artist painted it simply by looking at a small 4 x 5 photo. It is a remarkable likeness of him. The finished 18 x 20 painting is framed and is now displayed in a prominent place in our home. Her ability to portray him as we knew him is uncanny. She is a very talanted artist.
